| Trublu, Thats for Catfish in swift water. Cactus bob has worked on perfecting this rig for a few years now. It seems to work just fine. | |

| Shepherd, I havent ever tried that kind of rig ,, because I think if the weight is tied to hook , the fish will feel the resistance and drop the bait
I have fished a carolina rig for along time until Coach showed me his rig and thats how i rig now except he and me,, actually use 10/0 king kahle hooks,,it works great in the Mississippi River

| reggie , the tube keeps the hook away from the main line so it won't tangle .................. in slower current the cork helps to keep the bait floating ....................if u look close at the set up , all it is is a carolina rig modified ............................ if u keep the line taunt when casting and feel the bottom with the wt , get the slack out quick , u can fish rocks or logs etc and only break off the wt leader , while the bait is still above the cover ................ | |

| Thanks, Coach! I tried the rig for a little while on the upper Flint River, above Bainbridge, yesterday morning, fishing with my bro, Gene. It shines, for sure. We didn't catch any cats, but that river sure is pretty the further up it we go - lots of flowing, clear blue/green waters, sand bars, and gobs of big rocks above and below the surface. At one point we found a 50+ foot hole, out from a huge sand bar and some big rock outcroping. Gene & I worked it over good for over an hour - live bream on slip corks; live bream on the bottom with several different types of rigs; used live shiners around the sand bar edges and drop offs; tried some cut bream down deep and earth worms, too...no body home, it seems. I think this summer heat has them kitty's somewhere else! We are still trying to solve the "great mystery" = where the hell are the cats? Put the boat on the trailer about 11:30 (couldn't stand the heat of the blazing sun any longer) and set off "riding and smiling" to find some other up river landings. One landing, in particular, seemed to strike us as most acceptable. It is way up the river in a very remote location (that eliminates 90% of the weekend crowd) that has faster running water and rocky shoals, with deep pocket water behind the rocks - sweet! Our next trip (next week I pray) will be up there to finally try and find the catfish. One great bonus to all this searching for flatheads has been the discovery that in every part of the river system so far it has not been a problen to catch small bream in about 1/2 hour. We just love that and, get this...the area we are into next has Shoal Bass (a cousin to the smallmouth) everywhere! | |

| Guys i'm working on getting a pic but deys caught big momma up on the black river last week here.... When i say big momma i's mean BIG MOMMA! The head was the size of a mack truck...... and she tipped the scales at 88 pounds.... BIGGEST DAMN FLATHEAD i've ever saw. I just happened to be getting gas and when those boys stopped in. It was caught on trotline. They put it in the paper so i'll have it digitized in a day or two.
Ol terry would be proud it was caught up where he fished all the time.
